Chem Trend

Chem-Trend opened a new research and development laboratory space in Maisach, Germany, about 15 miles west of Munich. Chem-Trend's parent company, Freudenberg Chemical Specialties, invested about $45.5 million into the new facility, which covers about 436,000 square feet, according to a company news release. Various parts of the facility will be used by FCS's Chem-Trend, Kluber Lubrication and OKS business units. The integrated space includes areas for research and development, warehousing, training, dining and administrative services.

The new lab space will enhance Chem-Trend's existing R&D capabilities and joins Chem-Trend's laboratory network, the company said.

It includes new equipment and dedicated laboratory space for its thermoplastics, polyurethane and wood composite R&D teams, and employs a layout for flexibility to address future growth and industry shifts.

The expanded lab, including a new test field for product development,

evaluation and demonstration, will boost customer service, especially for Europe-based original equipment manufacturers, Chem-Trend said.

The investment continues a movement for both Chem-Trend and FCS in enhancing laboratory spaces, development and testing equipment, and increasing R&D personnel, the company said. Chem-Trend is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of high-performance release agents, purging compounds and other process chemical specialties
